Description

Precision Rifle Course

The Spartan Firearms Training Group’s long range precision rifle course is uniquely designed to challenge novice to intermediate shooters. Students seeking the ability to reach out to longer distances with consistent accuracy and efficient manipulation of a given weapon system are the ideal customers for this course. Training may include, but is not limited to, rifle setup and equipment familiarization (including customization of rifle to fit each individual shooter, scope leveling and zeroing), fundamentals of marksmanship, basic ballistics, reading wind, range estimation (holds and dialing), alternate firing positions, and developing the ability to construct a ballistic shooting solution for your weapon system and ammunition of choice, at any given range.

Our instructors are some of the best in the region. Many have direct combat experience within the special operations community, involving long range engagements, the highest level of sniper training that U.S. special operations has to offer, multiple years of sniper instructor experience, tested in the setting of long-range competition shooting, law enforcement, and police SWAT experience. This unique blend of experience and expertise, combined with well-maintained facilities, allows us to offer professional and efficient training while maintaining a comfortable relaxed environment.

There will be a brief classroom discussion regarding ballistics, optics, and reticles. This is followed by customizing your firearm platform, including leveling the gun and scope to each individual shooter. Then we will take the gun down to the one-hundred-yard range to zero it, or confirm zero. Lastly, where the fun begins, we’ll move to the distance range and engage targets from 200 to 850 yards!

Time

9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

Cost

$375.00 (full price); $200 deposit

Course Requirements

  1. Suppressors for your rifle are REQUIRED to attend this course
  2. Duration 4-5 hours (depending on shooters’ capabilities)
  3. Eye and ear protection
  4. Ammo: 140 rounds (7-twenty round boxes) of the same brand, bullet type, and grain for your firearm. If you can get the ammunition from the same lot, that is preferred but not required.
  5. Ballistic calculator:  There are several available, but we recommend “applied ballistics” or “4dof” which can be found on the App Store. Please download one of these ahead of time. We will input all the specifications during class.
  6. Your long-range gun(s) with a scope that has a distance reticle in MOA or Mildot/MRAD (we prefer that you do not have BDC or straight crosshairs as these are challenging as we add distance past 500 yards). Students must know the reticle of their scope and print off the specifications from the manufacturer’s website, and bring the print-out with them (or let us know ahead of time). Example: https://www.google.com/search?q=vortex+reticle+subtensions&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en-us&client=safari#vhid=F7oD8AkrI4w_7M&vssid=l
  7. Pack a lunch or snacks and water

**IMPORTANT**

Between October and May suppressors are REQUIRED to attend this course.  This will be confirmed prior to start of class.
