What You Learn

  • Our day-long wear and carry permit renewal class uses an “outdoor classroom” model.
  • Lead instruction delivered by a Maryland and NRA-certified instructor.
  • Our Range Safety Officer to customer ratio is 1:5, that is, one RSO for every five customers…which matches the industry standard. We follow the “crawl, walk, run” training approach—starting slow and building up the pace as skills develop, ensuring the instruction stays aligned with the needs of the least experienced shooter in the group. Training topics are:
    • Range safety briefing
    • Medical briefing
    • Assessing dominant eye
    • Drawing from a holster—a 5-step sequence
    • Addressing threats with strong body language
    • Assessing shooting accuracy—starting with one shot at a time
    • Dealing with malfunctions as they happen in real time
    • Scanning for additional threats
    • Turning to shoot (left to target, right to target, 180-degree turn to target)
    • Shooting using a 1-second, ½ second, ¼ second cadence
    • Emergency and tactical reloading

Who Needs Training?
